Why Caffeine-Free Matters for Teen Athletes

Reviewed by a board-certified sports dietitian

Walk down the sports-nutrition aisle and most “pre-workout” and energy products have one thing in common: caffeine, often a lot of it. For a growing athlete, that’s a problem.

What the guidance says

The American Academy of Pediatrics has stated that caffeine and other stimulant-containing energy drinks have no place in the diet of children and adolescents[1]. Kids are more sensitive to caffeine than adults; it can affect sleep, heart rate, anxiety, and, for a teen still developing, brings risks that outweigh any short-term jolt.

Why athletes don’t need it anyway

The thing that actually helps a young athlete before practice isn’t a stimulant, it’s fuel and fluid: carbohydrate to power the session and electrolytes to stay hydrated. A stimulant can mask fatigue without addressing the real issue, which is an under-fueled, under-hydrated body.

That’s why RALLY Ready is 100% caffeine-free. It does the job a pre-workout should, carbohydrate plus sodium, potassium, and magnesium, with zero stimulants, so it’s something a parent doesn’t have to think twice about and a coach can hand to a whole team.
